Use precaution when attending events posted on social media -- Local police and sheriff departments strive to reduce crime and increase public safety with the ultimate goal of improving the quality of life for all of our citizens. However, we cannot do it alone and feel that in order to accomplish this goal, we must partner with our citizens in preventing criminal activity. Colorado Springs Police Department released tips on how to avoid being the victim of a crime at events or parties that are advertised on social media sites. To see the full news release, click here.

A New Year's Eve Party takes place Dec. 31 at 9:30 p.m. at Thunder Alley Bowling Center -- Tickets can be purchased online (https://carson.armymwr.com/calendar/event/new-years-eve-party/1838110/21941) or in person. Cost is $20 per person ages 15 plus, $10 for ages 6-14 and children 5 and younger get in free. There will be bowling until 12:30 a.m., party favors and food and beverage voucher.
