FRG Mission

"Assist commanders in maintaining readiness of Soldiers, Families, and communities within the Army by promoting self-sufficiency, resiliency, and stability during peace and war."

For spouses and Family members, the FRG gives a sense of belonging to the unit, the Army community, and the Army Family. It provides a way to develop friendships, share important information, obtain referrals to needed Army resources and share moral support during unit deployments. For the long-term, involvement in FRG activities can foster more positive attitudes among Army Families and provide a better understanding of military life, the unit, and its mission.

For Soldiers, the FRG brings peace of mind. Soldiers can be assured that their Family members will be more self-sufficient and will have reliable and friendly support while they are deployed. This peace of mind can help Soldiers focus on their work, perform better, relate better to other Soldiers and be safer while they're on a training or real-world mission.

  • Q: How do I get information about my Soldier during his or her deployment?

  • A: First, speak to your Soldier. He or she has access to the Family Readiness information prior to deployment. Before your Soldier deploys, ensure they have given the Family Readiness Group (FRG) your contact information. Also, ask your Soldier about important dates for any pre-deployment Family information briefs or pre-deployment fairs. Check with the unit's FRG Leader, Family Readiness Liaison (FRL) or Rear Detachment Commander (RDC) about the ways you can stay connected. They will also assist you by connecting you to the FRG.

  • Q: I have a problem and would like some assistance solving it. Where can I turn?

  • A: Start with your FRG, FRL or RDC. They have access to and knowledge of the many resources available. They can refer you to the appropriate agency to help address your problem.
